Position 1- Manager of El Misti Copacabana
A very demanding yet rewarding position, in which the individual will be continuously challenged. This job requires someone with energy, great social skills, able to lead a team, delegate and manage responsibilities as well as multi-task on all levels. We are looking for a pro-active and efficient individual with a positive attitude and problem-solving mind. Minimum required commitment of 1 year.
Responsibilities:
- Sales
- Customer Service
- Staff training and supervision
- Opening and closing the till, payments
- General maintenance supervision
- Reservations Management
- Up-selling of tours and excursions
- Marketing participation
Schedule:
6 days a week; normally, a manager’s day would be split in two shifts in order to maintain the best atmosphere and supervision during the busy periods - 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the late afternoon/evening. However the timetable should be flexible adapted to the business needs.
Number of Staff to supervise:
- 4 receptionists
- 3 cleaning staff
- 1 barman
- 1 cook
- 1 maintenance staff
Requirements:
- Fluency in English – required
- Fluency in Portuguese- required
- Previous management experience
- Ability to work independently – with or without supervision
- Computer literacy
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Energetic, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful
Starting Date: ASAP
Position 2- Web Marketer
Ideal for Marketing, Advertising or Communications students wanting to gain a bit of real business experience as well as some cash. The job consists in maintaining and improving the online marketing strategies of the organizations various business units - www.rioflatrentals.com for seasonal or temporary apartment rentals and www.elmistihostels.com for both Hostels, El Misiti Botafogo and Copacabana.
This is a permanent position with a minimum required commitment of 1 year. The work can be done from home ( aka. Anywhere in the world) or from the hostel in Rio de Janeiro – depending on the candidate’s situation. 4 to 6 hours a day.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English- required
- Advanced knowledge of Portuguese
- Computer and web literacy
- Well-organized, detail-oriented and self-disciplined
Starting date : ASAP
Position 3- Bilingual Receptionists ( Portuguese- English)
This is a very hands-on and customer service oriented job which demands lots of energy and enthusiasm. It also requires high levels of organization and even higher levels of multi-tasking. Minimum required commitment of 1 year. 6 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative tasks
- Organization and sale of tours and activities
- Attending to the customers
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and in Portuguese
- Ability to work independently – with or without supervision
- Computer literacy
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Energetic, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful
Schedule:
There is availability for all 3 shifts.
- Morning shift: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
- Afternoon shift: 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm
- Night Shift: 11:00 pm to 8:00 am
Start Date: Any time
Position 4 – Barman or Barwoman
Bartending and stocking the bar to ensure that the guests have a great time. Must be outgoing, friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Qualifications:
- Sociable and friendly
- Organized and helpful
- Knowledge of English, Spanish and Portuguese would be ideal
Start Date: From July 2008 to March 2009 with possibility of staying permanently, or just summer season July to September and/or December to March.
Position 5- Cook
El Misti offers prepared meals to its guests most nights of the week for a fixed price. The cook would need to have restaurant or cooking experience and be able to prepare meals for a significant number of people in a space-restricted environment. We would need this individual to be proactive, organized and efficient.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare all meals within a certain fixed budget
- Promote the meals amongst the guests
- Lend a helping hand to the rest of the staff
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience
- Sociable and friendly
- Basic Knowledge of English, Spanish and Portuguese would be ideal
Start Date: From July 2008 to March 2009 with possibility of staying permanently or just summer season July to September and/or December to March.
