Paul King, the director of the previous two films, has decided not to direct this installment
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Home for Retired Bears. The Brown family is on a thrilling adventure as a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.
This is just another jungle adventure filmbut with a bear
Appeared in Graham Norton and guests: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). If, like me, you agree that the first two Paddington films are among the best films of all time, this one is both enjoyable and disappointing. Since it’s not about Paddington adjusting to living with a family in London or how an ordinary family adjusts to living with a bear, it loses its original charm and certainly its humor.
I could say we need more of the Brown family and their neighbours
It has a different feel to it – more sentimental and noticeably less funny. The first two were fun for old Marx Brothers fans like me, but this is definitely more of a family film, clearly aimed at kids. you could also say we need Sally Hawkins, but what’s the point of that.
Routine family fun rather than fun quirky cuteness
We had all that in the first two and because they were… dare I say, perfect, there’s no point in trying to copy them. So yes, this is different, it’s terribly over-sentimental at times and not all that funny, but it’s still Paddington.
